{"id":41,"date":"2019-05-29T21:37:22","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T21:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vulcan-solutions.com\/www\/?page_id=41"},"modified":"2019-05-29T21:45:31","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T21:45:31","slug":"vulcan-software","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/vulcan-solutions.com\/www\/?page_id=41","title":{"rendered":"Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Vulcan<\/strong>&nbsp;is a finite element analysis \n(FEA) program, which is capable of modelling the global 3-dimensional \nbehaviour of composite steel-framed buildings under fire conditions.&nbsp;The\n analysis considers whole structure action and includes geometrical and \nmaterial non-linearity within its beam-column and slab elements, with \nfull membrane action in the slabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard stress-strain curves and full thermal expansion \ncharacteristics are incorporated as functions of temperature for both \nsteel and concrete, with uniform or non-uniform temperature \ndistributions.&nbsp;The orthotropic nature of composite deck slabs is \nrepresented using an effective-stiffness concept, and options for \nsemi-rigid connections and partial interaction between steel sections \nand slabs are provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vulcan software has been developed specifically for the analysis of  building performance in fire conditions. It differs from traditional,  commercial FEA packages in its simplicity and speed of use.
